Renovation Update 11

Currently happening at the house:

1. We're having a narrow roof installed to cover the backdoor and the outside sink. At the moment, water comes into the house through the door whenever the rain is at certain direction. Also, those who need to use the sink can be sheltered from the elements.

2. Both doors will be switched to ones made of solid wood. Presently, the front door is only solid at the core and the backdoor is completely hollow so it's easy for anyone to hack them.

3. In line with the door change, we are also changing the knobs and adding deadbolts. So many people during the course of this renovation have had access to the keys, thus we're changing them completely.

4. We're having weather strips installed at the bottom of both the front and back doors to prevent rain and most insects from coming through the rather large gap.

Shop Hop: Möbler

Here's another store for those who need an IKEA fix - Möbler. It's located on the third floor, but worth the trek as the place is chock-full of just about anything you could think of for the house - including food!

Here are a few interesting finds:

Queen bed frame with drawers (mattress not included) - Php 28,500

Wooden crib - Php 5200
High chair - Php 1950

Magnetic white board - Php 3800
Hook rack - Php 1200

Möbler also sells shelves (starting at Php 399 each) and brackets (starting at Php 70) separately. The wooden hangers above cost Php 450 for a set of eight.

Shop Hop: LRI Design Plaza

Imagine three floors dedicated to furnishings and art! If you want a one stop shop for furniture and decor, then this is the place to go to - they even have a few interior designers whose offices are located here.

And even if you're not in the mood to buy anything, I find that I can easily get decorating inspiration just by roaming the halls.

Here are two of the stores we checked out that day:

Simply Asian

We were drawn to the chocolate couch above and had we been moving into the house, I would have ordered it already. The price? Php 52,200 (10% off the original Php 58,000 tag). Considering it's made of solid wood with stainless steel legs, I'm thinking not bad as I've seen sofas made of medium-density fibreboards for the same price.

The dimensions of the one above are 230 cm (length) and 90 cm (depth), but they can customize it to your specifications and will adjust the cost accordingly.

They also sell art - the four frames were done by a local artist named Demi Padua and retail for Php 8400 each.

Heima

This store is regularly featured in home magazines due to their fun and quirky furniture. And during our most recent visit, I wanted to buy the frame below - you can give them a list of all the places you've been to and they will plot it on the map. The Have Love, Will Travel print costs Php 5900 inclusive of the frame.
